During the meeting of heads of government in Bishkek, the progress in implementing the decisions reached at the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO will be discussed. The delegations will focus on strategies and practical measures for cooperation in regional security, economics, trade, communications, and people-to-people exchange.

It is well known that the SCO is an increasingly important global player. However, what does the future hold for the organization, and how important is the SCO for the development of Central Asia? Both share the commonality of having China, Russia, and India, the world's major developing countries, as their backbone. At the same time, these organizations differ in their mandates, the most important of which is that the SCO is entrusted with the task of ensuring regional security.

Figure 1 shows that in the Eurozone and the U. These trends are explained by the growth of the population and economies in those countries. Emissions in India have recently exceeded those in the whole Eurozone. The graph shows total carbon dioxide emissions in five countries of Central Asia combined. One can see that the absolute emission figures are modest.

Nevertheless, it is important to compare the dynamics of carbon dioxide emissions normalized to GDP at purchasing power parity PPP. Such a graph is shown in Figure 2. Figure 2. Particular attention is paid to the achievements and challenges of the post-Soviet economic and political transformation of the region, as well as its relationship with the participants in the New Great Game — Russia, China and the West — all competing for influence in Central Asia. He is an honorary member and invited speaker at a few international boards and forums on development and investment and a distinguished professor at several foreign universities.
